Just an hour later than planed in schedule an ideal sea breeze, the local Maestrale had developed on the sea in the Gulf of Trieste and over both race courses of the 23rd Izola Spring Cup giving nearly 300 competitors truly ideal sailing conditions. In 10 to 15 knots both RC's finished three races.
On the red course in Laser R for men, the "local hero" Jakob Božič took over the lead of 4 points after winning in two of todays races (8*, 1., 1., 1., 7/10 points), followed by Walter Rasi Bajons (AUT/1., 5., 2., 6., 12*/14) and Uroš Kraševac (SLO/7*, 7., 5., 2., 2./16). Laser R for women has the Italian Elisabetta Macchini leading (ITA/1., 2., 4., 1., *./8 points), just a point ahead of Maruša Kraševac (SLO/2., 1., 2., 4., 9*/9) and 2 points from Milica Dukić (SRB/4., bfd*, 3., 2., 1/10). In the fleet of 52 boats in the 420's Winkel-Thielemann (GER/1., 2., 2., 1., 6*, 4./10 points) are still leading in front of two Austrian crews Meister-Hussl (2., 5*, 4., 2., 1., 3/10) and Simmer-Weiss (10*1., 3., 3., 3., 5./12).
On "green" course Košuta and Farneti (ITA/7*, 1., 1., 1., 2., 4./13 points) lead in 470 Men, 2 points ahead of the local crew Mikulin-Prinčič (SLO/1., 4., 2., 5., 1., 2., 7*/15), followed by Szamody-Bardos (HUN/2., 7*, 6., 3., 6., 1., 1./19). Hess and Schimak are leading the small fleet of 470 W.
Tonko Kuzmanić (CRO/1., 2., 3*, 1., 1., 3., 1./9 points) from Split has a comfortable lead in the Laser std class, followed by Nik Pletikos from YC Burja (SLO/3., 7*, 5., 2., 3., 4., 2./19) and Saydukov (UKR/24 points).Bartol Komadina (CRO/9*, 2., 1., 1., 4., 1./9) and Stefano Campanacci (ITA/2., 1., 4*, 2., 2., 2./9) are leading the fleet of Laser 4.7, followed by Jure Frzop (CRO/14 points). All three have a comfortable point margin from the rest in the 35 boat fleet.
